GRANDMA OMIE'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES | |
1 cup shortening 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar firmly packed 2 eggs (well beaten) 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 1/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 package Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 ounce) 2 cups chopped pecans (optional) Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar together. Add beaten eggs and vanilla and mix. Mix all dry ingredients together and add to first mixture approximately a cup at a time until completely blended. Add chocolate chips and nuts and mix well. Drop generously rounded teaspoon of cookie dough on to ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for approximately 10 minutes. (Hint: It is better to under bake cookies than to over bake.) Makes approximately 3-4 dozen cookies. |
