GRANDMA'S FAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES | |
1/2 c. shortening (1 c.) 1/4 c. white sugar (1/2 c.) 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed (1 c.) 1/2 tsp. vanilla (1 tsp.) 1 egg (2) 1 c. & 2 level tbsp. sifted flour (2 1/4 c.) 1/2 tsp. baking soda (1 tsp.) 1/2 tsp. salt (1 tsp.) 1/2 c. chopped nuts (1 c.) 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (12 oz.) Cream together shortening, white and dark sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Fold in eggs and beat. Sift and mix in dry ingredients. Add nuts and chocolate chips and mix thoroughly. Drop by small spoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Grandma always made cookies small so you could have more than one, and so there would be plenty for everyone. |
