MICROWAVE BROWNIES 
2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped (optional)

(These are good for children to make with adult supervision.)

Grease 8 inch round microwave-safe pan. Place chocolate and butter in a 4 quart microwave-safe bowl and cook on high 1 1/2 - 2 minutes until butter and chocolate melt. Stir until smooth. Blend in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in walnuts, flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend well. Pour into baking dish. Place a microwave-safe saucer (coffee cup) upside down in center of microwave. Place brownies on top of saucer. Cook on high for 2 minutes. Rotate 1/4 turn; cook on high 2 minutes. Rotate 1/4 turn; cook 1-2 minutes more on high until toothpick comes out clean. Do not cook more than 6 minutes or they will be hard as rocks!! Cool completely. 16 brownies.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
