GRANDMA'S GREEK WALNUT CAKE 
1 lb. walnuts, ground
10 Zweiback, ground
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 heaping tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 sm. glass brandy
12 eggs, separated

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 1/2 cup sugar. In separate bowl, beat egg yolks with remaining sugar. In separate bowl mix dry ingredients. Add brandy and egg yolks mixture. Fold in egg whites. Bake in greased square pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Test with toothpick.

SYRUP:

3/4 c. honey
3/4 c. water
1 lemon peel
1 orange peel
Pinch of powdered cloves

Bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Cool.
