GRANDMA'S RAISIN SPICE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. lard
1 c. raisins
1 c. cold water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Boil this together for 4 minutes, when cool add 2 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Bake at 350 degrees in 9 x 13 x 3 pan for 45 minutes. For larger cake double the recipe and use 10 x 3 x 13 1/2 pan.
