FRUIT CAKE (1937) 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter or Crisco
4 whole eggs
1 c. buttermilk or clabber
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. jam
1 c. raisins
1 c. coconut
2 1/2 c. flour

FILLING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
Salt to taste
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. coconut
Vanilla to taste
2 eggs

Mix cake by hand and pour in greased cake pans (4 - 8" pans or 3 - 9" pans).

FILLING: Mix sugar, flour, salt, milk and eggs. Beat well until thick. Add nuts, coconut and vanilla. Let cake cool completely. Ice with filling between layers and on top.
