APPLE CAKE 
3 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 lb. butter (2 sticks)
2 jars apple or cherry pie filling
1/4 tsp. almond extract (optional)
Cinnamon and sugar

Sift dry ingredients. Melt butter and pour it and almond extract onto dry ingredients. Mix well until crumbly.

Press 3/4 of crumbs in a 13x9 pan and around the sides. Pour pie filling in. Spread rest of crumbs on top. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Bake at 375 degrees for one hour.
