APPLE DUMPLING CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. chopped nuts
1-2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, beaten
2 c. finely chopped, peeled apples
Whipping cream, whipped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 3 ingredients. Blend with mixer at low speed until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cup crumb mixture into ungreased 13"x9" pan. To remaining mixture add cinnamon, soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg; blend well. Stir in apples. Spoon evenly over crumb layer. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream. Serve warm or cold. Serves 12 to 15.
