SHOOFLY PIE | |
1 c. flour 3/4 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. shortening 1 c. coconut (optional) 1 egg 1 c. King syrup 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. hot water 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust Mix flour, brown sugar, shortening and coconut into crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture for topping. In another bowl, mix egg, syrup and 3/4 cup hot water and add to dry mixture. Dissolve soda in remaining 1/4 cup hot water and add to mixture. Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. |
