SHOOFLY PIE (COFFEE CAKE) 
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour
Pinch salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Crumb sugar, flour and shortening. Take out 1/2 cup of crumbs for topping. Combine other ingredients with crumb mixture. Bake in round or square pan. Pour the reserved crumb mixture over the batter before baking.

Bake at 375 degrees.
