1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 beaten whole eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
2 c. brown sugar

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Then add vanilla. Spread on cookie sheet, sprinkle with 1 cup chopped nuts. Pat nuts into the dough. Beat 2 egg whites, add 2 cups brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and spread over dough.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut while warm
