49ERS GOLD BARS 
6 oz. dried apricots
2 eggs
1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Confectioners' sugar

Soak apricots in water until soft. Drain well. Cut in small pieces. Beat eggs well. Blend sugars and salt; gradually beat into eggs until light and foamy. Add orange rind. Sift together flour, baking powder, and nutmeg; gradually fold into egg mixture. Add apricots and nuts; mix briefly. Spread batter into greased 9 inch square pan. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until done. When partially cool, cut 1 x 3 inch bars and roll in confectioners' sugar. 27 bars.
