CRISP PICKLE SLICES 
5 qt. sliced, unpared med. cucumbers
6 med. white onions, sliced (6 c.)
2 green peppers, sliced (1 2/3 c.)
3 cloves garlic
1/3 c. granulated pickling salt (sub. uniodized table salt)
5 c. sugar
3 c. cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
Lots of ice

Combine cucumbers, onions, green peppers and whole garlic cloves and salt. Cover with cracked ice. Mix thoroughly. Let stand 3 hours. Drain well. Remove garlic. Combine remaining ingredients.

Pour over cucumber mixture in pan and bring to boil. Fill hot jars in 1/2 inch from top. Adjust lids. Process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes. (Start timing when water returns to boiling.) Makes 8 pints.
