CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE | |
1 c. butter (do not substitute) 1/2 c. Crisco shortening 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 1 c. milk 3 c. cake flour 5 tbsp. cocoa 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla Cream butter, shortening, and sugar together until soft and creamy. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together. Add eggs, one at a time alternately with milk and flour mixture. Add vanilla. Bake in a greased 10 inch tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR UNTIL TIME IS UP. If not done, then bake a little longer. Frost cake with your favorite chocolate frosting or eat as is. |
