CABBAGE ROLL-UPS | |
8-10 cabbage leaves 1 onion, chopped 4 tbsp. butter 1/2 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. ground pork 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper 1 c. cooked rice 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce Immerse head of cabbage in boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes, or until leaves are slightly wilted. Remove from water and cool. Saute onion in 4 tablespoons butter. Add the meat, seasoning and cooked rice, mix well. Place a large spoonful of the meat mixture in center of each loaf. Fold leaf over and roll around filling. Fold outer ends of leaf inside the roll and secure with toothpick. Place into greased casserole 9"x13" pan. Top with tomato sauce. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Yield: 8 servings. |
