BEEF AND BEAN BURGERS 
1 lb. ground beef or ground chuck
1/2 c. chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1 can bean and bacon soup or refried beans
1/4 c. medium or hot salsa
6 hamburger buns, buttered and toasted
1 large onion, sliced into rings for garnishing
fresh ripe tomato, thinly sliced (optional)

Sauté beef with chopped onions and garlic. Drain off excess fat. Combine beef with soup or refried beans, salsa and chili powder. Spread evenly on bun halves.

Broil about four-inches from heat for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Top with a ring of onion and a slice of tomato before serving.
