DEEP DISH APPLE PIE | |
Sugar substitute to equal 1/3 c. sugar 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind 2 1/2 tsp. lemon juice 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 4 sm. apples, sliced 1 c. all-purpose flour, sifted 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. reduced calorie butter 3 tbsp. cold water 1 1/4 tsp. Sweet & Low equals 1/3 c. sugar Each serving may be exchanged for 1 1/2 bread, 1/2 fat. Yield: 8 servings. Each serving 1/8th of pie. 1. Combine sugar substitute, cornstarch, lemon rind, lemon juice, nutmeg, cinnamon and apple slices. 2. Place in 9" deep dish pie plate or baking dish; set aside. 3. Combine flour and salt; cut in butter until mixture resembles cornmeal. 4. Blend in water with fork until all dry ingredients are moistened. 5. Shape dough into a ball. 6. Roll out dough on a floured surface and place on top of apple filling. 7. Bake at 425 degrees for 35 minutes or until brown. 8. Cut into 8 equal slices and serve. |
