DOM DELUISE'S CHEESE AND ONION
BREAD
 
1 1/2 c. chopped onions
1 egg
Pepper
1 tbsp. baking powder
2/3 c. milk
1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sour cream
2 c. flour
1 c. shredded cheese
3 tbsp. minced parsley

Saute onions in 2 tablespoons butter until tender. Combine onions with egg, sour cream, and pepper to taste in bowl mixing well. Set aside. Place flour and baking powder in another bowl. Cut in remaining 1/4 cup butter until crumbly and fine. Stir in 1/2 cup cheese. Add enough milk to make a soft dough. Pat into a buttered 9 inch square pan. Spread sour cream mixture on top. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and parsley. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm. Makes 8 servings.
