HACIENDA CHEESE - ONION BREAD 
1/2 c. sliced green onions, tops included
6 tbsp. butter
2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
3/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. poppy seed

Saute green onions in 1 tablespoon butter. Set aside. Mix flour and sugar. Cut in remaining butter with pastry blender until mixture looks like coarse meal. Add 1/4 cup shredded cheese and 1 tablespoon sauteed onion. Stir in milk to make a soft dough. Add more milk if necessary. Mix well; spread dough in greased 9 x 9 inch baking pan. Top with onions and remaining cheese. Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. Makes 16 slices.
