HEARTY BEEF AND BEAN STEW 
2 lbs. ground chuck
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. dried parsley flakes
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
6 med. potatoes, pared and cut into 3/4 inch cubes (4 c.)
1 (16 oz.) can pork and beans into tomato sauce
2 c. peas, fresh or frozen and thawed

Crumble ground chuck into 3 quart glass casserole. Cover and microwave (High setting) 3 minutes. Stir in onion, garlic, parsley flakes, salt, basil and pepper. Microwave (High setting) 5 minutes more, or until meat loses its pink color. Pour off fat. Stir in tomatoes. Do not cover.

Microwave (High setting) 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Stir in potatoes and pork and beans. Cover. Microwave (High setting) 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender, stirring every 7 minutes. Add peas. Cover and microwave 5 minutes more, or until peas are tender. Makes 8 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
