KANAFA (SHREDDED WHEAT) | |
1 lb. sweet butter, melted Milk 12 shredded wheat 1 lb. walnuts, ground fine 1 c. sugar 1 tbsp. lemon juice Mix together walnuts, sugar and lemon juice. Soak shredded what in milk to open and stuff with nuts. Continue until all 12 are done. Put in tray already greased with butter. Cover each one with melted butter and bake at 350 degrees preheated oven. After cooked, cover with cold syrup. SYRUP: 1 c. water 2 c. sugar 2 tbsp. fresh lemon Boil sugar and water, after boiled, add lemon. Boil until it thickens (not too thick). Let it get cold before adding to shredded wheat. Syrup can be left in jar for another time. Will last long. Can be used for many other pastries. |
