COCONUT PECAN TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. coconut
Pecan halves, for garnish

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add crumbs and baking powder. Fold in nuts and coconut. Grease and flour a 9 inch pie pan. Turn batter into pan and spread evenly. Press pecan halves into batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream if desired. Yields 6-8 servings.
