2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening, butter, softened
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour oblong pan 13 x 9 x 2 inches or 2 (8 or 9 inch) round pans. Beat all ingredients in a large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly 30 seconds. Beat on high speed 3 minutes.

Bake in oblong pan 40 to 45 minutes; layers 30 to 35 minutes.
