DELUXE POUND CAKE 
3/4 lb. unsalted butter
6 eggs, at room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. mace
1 lb. confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 box (4 c.) Swan's Down cake flour
1 tsp. almond extract

With electric beater, cream butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well again. Add spices, and add flour slowly, beating well after addition. Divide into lined and greased loaf pans. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Turn out on cooling rack, remove paper and let cool. Slivered almonds or pecans can be sprinkled on these cakes before they are baked.
