CARMELITAS 
32 light caramels
5 tbsp. evaporated milk
1 c. flour
1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
3/4 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter (melted)
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt the caramels and evaporated milk in top of double boiler. Cool slightly. Combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, soda, salt and butter. Stir until butter is absorbed and mixture is crumbly. Press half of crumbs in bottom of 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Cover with caramel mixture. Spread carefully. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly and cut into bars while warm.
