OATMEAL CARMELITAS 
1 c. flour
1 c. quick rolled oats
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter, melted

TOPPING:

1 c. chocolate chips
3/4 c. caramel ice cream topping
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3 tbsp. flour

Combine in a large bowl to form crumbs. Press 1/2 of mixture into the bottom of a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate and nuts over baked crust. Mix flour and caramel topping well. Drizzle over chocolate and nuts. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over caramel. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Chill bars for easy cutting. Makes 12-14 servings. A prize winning recipe.
