40 light caramels (or 1 jar caramel topping plus 6 tbsp. flour) 6 tbsp. light cream 1 1/2 c. oatmeal 1 c. plus 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 c. flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 sticks butter 1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips 3/4 c. chopped nuts Melt caramels and cream in double boiler. Cool slightly. Combine all ingredients except caramel mixture, chips and nuts. Press 1/2 dough mixture in 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Spread caramel mixture, then sprinkle chips and nuts over mixture. Sprinkle remaining dough over top and press. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and cut. |
