CANDY CANE COOKIES | |
1 c. soft shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. peppermint flavoring Beat together shortening, sugar, egg and extracts. Stir in flour sifted with salt. Divide dough in half. To one half, add 1 teaspoon red food coloring. Chill dough. Take a small ball of dough, roll on lightly floured board to thickness of a pencil, about 4" long. Roll a similar one of red dough. Place side by side and pinch together then twist them together and bend the top to cane shape. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes. |
