7 c. flour 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. ginger 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. allspice 3/4 c. water 1/4 c. rum 2 tsp. baking soda 2 c. dark molasses 1 c. shortening 2 c. sugar Mix water and rum. Mix baking soda and molasses. Cream shortening and sugar. Add dry and wet ingredients alternately. Chill dough overnight. Roll into 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with 4 inch cutter. Place on baking sheet and cook for 10- 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Store in covered cookie jar. Send some to a college student. |
