APPLE DUMPLINGS 
6 apples, peeled & cored
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk or buttermilk
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Make dough with flour, baking powder, shortening and milk. Roll out and cut into 6 squares. Place peeled and cored apple in center of each. Mix sugar and cinnamon and fill apple cavities. Draw 4 corners of dough up over apples and pinch together. Bake 40 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Serve with vanilla sauce.
