WELSH CURRANT CAKES | |
4 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. granulated sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening 1/2 c. butter 1 c. raisins 2 lg. eggs 2/3 c. milk Mix all dry ingredients then add shortening and butter, mix until coarse meal. Add wet ingredients and mix. Add raisins, mix, roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut with pastry cutter and fry in dry electric frying pan, 8 to 5 minutes each side. |
