MOLASSES STACK CAKE | |
1 c. sugar 1 c. molasses Add 3/4 c. boiling water 1 c. Wesson oil Stir in 1 beaten egg Sift in some self-rising flour, 1 tablespoon ginger, and 1/2 tablespoons soda. Make batter by adding flour until it is the consistency of biscuit dough. Turn out on floured board. Knead in a little more flour. Divide in half. Then divide each half in 4ths. Spray four 8 or 9 inch cake pans with Pam. Dust lightly with flour. Flatten a piece of the dough into each of the pans. Makes 2 (four layer) cakes. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, about 10 minutes. After removing from pans, stack with apple butter or apple sauce between layers. |
