BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIES WITH BURNT
BUTTER ICING
 
1/2 c. butter (oleo)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. chopped nuts

(To make sour cream, add 1 tablespoon vinegar to cream.)

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Add well beaten eggs. Alternate flour, soda, baking powder and salt with sour cream. Add nuts and vanilla. Chill. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes about 75 large cookies or 125 small ones.

ICING:

1/2 stick butter

Brown it in saucepan.

2 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. hot water - add more if necessary

Frost the cookies.
