DOT'S DATE LOAF CANDY 
1/2 lb. dates
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Butter

Cook together dates, sugar, milk, and 1 cup of nuts until it makes a soft ball in water. Add vanilla, butter (size of walnut), and 1 cup nuts. Heat until it drops in pieces from spoon. Pack, let set; cut in slices.
