APRIL'S FAMOUS GRILLED STEAKS W/MUSHROOM TOPPING | |
2 thick cut steaks (t-bone, porterhouse, sirloin, Delmonico, etc) 6 tbsp. Montreal steak seasoning 2 tbsp. garlic powder 1 tbsp. onion powder 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup sliced sweet onions 1/2 cup sliced green and red bell peppers 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional) Take a fork and poke holes on both sides of steaks to tenderize. Sprinkle steaks with garlic, onion and Montreal steak seasoning on both sides. Place in a Ziploc style bag or cover tightly and let the seasonings marinate for 2 hours in the refrigerator. Place butter in hot skillet and stir in mushrooms, onions and peppers. Stir often until they are hot and slightly brown. Turn heat to low on skillet and let the vegetables sauté. Get the grill outside very hot with the fire blazing! Place the steaks on the hot fire grill and let it sizzle! Cook the steaks one to two minutes on each side grilling the steaks to your taste (well, medium-well or rare). Remove steaks from grill and plate the steaks. Pour the hot buttered vegetables on top of steaks and, if desired, sprinkle with crumbled blue cheese while the steaks are hot! Submitted by: Dr. April Combs-Simpson |
