BASIC ROLL RECIPE 
1 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. quick yeast (for quick results 1 1/2 pkgs. yeast)
1 c. water
6 c. flour
6 tbsp. shortening

Scald milk - add sugar - salt - cool to lukewarm - add yeast dissolved in 1 cup warm water and sugar. Combine all ingredients and about 2 cups of flour first, beat well - add rest of flour and stir well - let rest in bowl for 1/2 hour, then knead lightly. Let rise 1 hour - shape into rolls. Let rise again and bake in 350-400 degree oven about 40 minutes, depending on your oven.
