BARBECUED SPARERIBS
2 or 3 lbs. spareribs

BARBECUE SAUCE:

2 tbsp. butter
1 onion, chopped fine
3/4 c. water
1 c. ketchup
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Place 2 or 3 pounds of spareribs in pan and cover with aluminum foil. Bake the ribs in a hot oven (450 degrees) for about a half hour. Pour off fat that has cooked out of ribs.

Meanwhile, make the Barbecue Sauce: Melt butter; add onion and cook until tender. Mix together water, ketchup, vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, dry mustard, salt and pepper. Add to cooked onion. Simmer 15 minutes while the ribs are precooking in the oven, then add to precooked ribs.

Reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook for about another hour. Turn the ribs over half way through the cooking time with the sauce so that the sauce is evenly distributed and seasoned through the ribs.

This is a recipe I originally created; by daughter, Paula, made the final revisions.
