FRESH BLACKBERRY CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. fresh blackberries

Wash and drain berries; set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add egg and beat until fluffy. Sift flour and baking powder together; add alternately with milk. Add vanilla.

Fold in blackberries. Pour into a 9-inch square pan. Bake 45 minutes or until done at 350 degrees. Cool and serve. Serves 6-8.
