DATE PUDDING CAKE 
1 c. hot water
3 1/2 tbsp. butter
1 lb. cut-up dates
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

In saucepan, bring water, butter and dates just to a boil. Cool. Add to date mixture, egg, sugar, flour, soda, salt and vanilla. Mix well and add nuts. Bake in 9x13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool Whip is good on top.
