1 c. fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. orange juice
1 egg, beaten

MY DADDY'S HOECAKES

1 tsp. shortening, melted
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
Boiling water sufficient to make batter

Mix all ingredients to make a dough. Flatten out on a floured board. Place near hot coals until browned and done or place in pie pan (or on cookie sheet) and bake in 400 degree oven until brown.
