Easy Hot and Sour Soup

Fantastic recipe. I found it today and had to do a number of substitutions (dehydrated onion bits for green onion stalks, chili powder and garlic powder for the garlic chili paste, and I didn't have tofu or bamboo shoots). Even so the soup was fantastic. I can't wait to get to the store to get what I need and enjoy what is likely an even better Hot and Sour Soup! As it was when I just made it, it was better than some of the Hot and Sour Soup you find in Chinese Restaurants! Wonderful recipe, thanks! And to top it off, it took me 15 minutes to make it!

This recipe is very easy to follow and prepare. I made this vegetarian/vegan, omitting the chicken. I also did not add the sesame oil because this can add a strong flavor to the soup. Overall, the soup tasted good and spicy with a hint of sour. I will make this again because of the ingredients which I mostly have on hand. This is a good soup if you're feeling under the weather with a cold or such.

This is a great and super simple recipe. We made a small change after making it the first couple of times though... I use beef stock instead of chicken stock. It gives the soup a more hearty flavor in the end. However use a fairly high quality stock.

Lovely soup, just like a restaurants! I added water chestnuts, some noodles, sliced beef for the meat and used lime juice to mix the corn flour, instead of water. I had Chinese vinegar as well. Quick and easy recipe.

We love, love, love hot & sour soup in resturants and now, with this recipe I make it at home & think it may be even better than we've had in a resturant. 'Course, if I make ANYthing at home it's ALWAYS better ! (lol)

I picked this recipe at random off the Internets. My husband loves it so much we make 5 times the recipe and can it so he can eat it often. I have shared this recipe with everyone I know and they love it too. It is definitely quick and easy!

THIS RECIPE IS SO GOOD! I am so NOT a cook and this was liek the easist thing ever and tastes *just* like the restaurant version. The thicking is really what gives it that slick quality you get from take out places and it's so cheap to make on your own. I skipped a bunch of stuff (mushrooms, meat, tofu and the bamboo) and added some tangled seaweed stuff, baby corn and extra spice to my palate. SO GOOD.

I am also a lover of resturant hot and sour soup and was not convinced how good this recipe was until I read the reviews. Let me tell you it does dissappoint. It is soooo good and easy its unbelievable and I'm so glad we tried it. I will never buy hot and sour soup from a resturant again.

Not for the faint-hearted. You must like an earthy flavor for this recipe. I made my own adjustments because I like spicey but overall, this recipe rocks!

My family really liked this. I added more chicken and left out the tofu. I used Thai chili Sauce instead of the garlic chili paste. Pretty easy too!

I was afraid to try this soup at home but your recipe is soo easy & awesome! Next time I'm trying it with only pork (I used both meats) and rice wine vinegar! I also sub'd siracha sauce for garlic chili but everyone loved it! Also, we added a touch more. Thanks for the this recipe!
