1 pkg. strawberry Jello
1 c. boiling water
6 oz. or red hot candy
1 lg. pkg. cream cheese
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1 c. finely chopped celery
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1 c. applesauce

Melt candy in boiling water, add Jello and melt, then add the applesauce. Pour half into container, thicken. Mix cream cheese and celery, nuts, mayonnaise together and spread on thickened Jello mixture. Add remaining Jello mixture to top of spread. Let thicken. Serve on lettuce if preferred.
