RICH COOKIES
1 can Borden's condensed sweetened milk
2 c. cornflakes
1/2 c. (smooth) peanut butter
1 pkg. chocolate bits

In mixing bowl, mix together by hand, 1 can of the Borden's sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 cup of peanut butter and 2 cups cornflakes. Mix well - add chocolate bits - mix well - put on greased baking sheet with spoon for about 10 minutes or until brown at 350 degrees. Double the recipe to double batch.

Makes 1 dozen.

Handed down to my grandmother by her mother, and my mother to me. Very quick, very easy, and VERY good! Bake at 350 degrees for about 8-10 minutes or until brown.

I had given up on ever finding this recipe, and owe it to the persistence of my daughter that this was found. I have fond memories of these yummy cookies. Many years ago, my sister and I spent some summer months with my aunt at a summer cabin. My aunt was a terrific cook, and she made these when we were visiting. As far as I know these didn't have a name back then, so my sister and I figured out the cost of the ingredients and named them "Thirty-Cents a Dozen" cookies. This was back in the late 40's, so the name is misleading by today's prices. Thank you for posting this. One of these days when I am feeling a bit nostalgic for the good old days, I may try to bake these. I am already trying to mentally count all the calories in a dozen of these.

My grandmother, who was born in 1909, remembered her mother making a similar cookie. It didn't have the chocolate in it. She thought my great-grandmother got the recipe off of the Borden's label.

I add sweetened coconut flakes like my grandmother did. Also if you have one, use a non stick mat for easy removal and clean up.
