PICKLES 
25 - 30 med. size cucumbers
8 onions
2 green peppers (optional)
1/2 c. salt
5 c. cider vinegar
5 c. sugar
4 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. tumeric
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 tsp. alum

Wash and slice onions, cucumbers and peppers. Cover with salt. Let stand 3 hours. Drain and rinse with cold water. Boil vinegar, sugar and pieces and alum. Add cucumbers and onions. Bring to boil and pack in sterilized pint jars. I usually put them in pressure cooker bring to 5 pounds pressure and turn off. Heat and let cool. Just to insure seals.
