FRENCH COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. butter
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in water)

Put all ingredients in container. Do not stir until all is added. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes in jelly roll pan. Cool. Cut in squares after frosted.

FROSTING:

1/2 stick butter, melted
3 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cool slightly. Add powdered sugar until consistency is right.
