FRENCH COOKIES 
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in the hot water

Put all ingredients in container. Do NOT stir until everything is added. Bake in sheet pan. Let cool in pan. Frost with any glaze icing and cut in bars. You may use vanilla in place of cinnamon or chopped apples in place of the raisins.
