FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
4 eggs
3 tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. sherry
1 lb. cherries
1 lb. pineapple
1 lb. dates
6 c. pecans, chopped

Cream together brown sugar and shortening. Add 4 eggs, one at a time. Mix and add buttermilk and soda. Sift together and add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Save small amount to dredge fruit and nuts. May soak the fruit and nuts overnight. Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake at 300°F about 15 minutes. Do not cook until brown.
