FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 c. chopped candied cherries
1 c. chopped candied pineapple
1 c. chopped dates
1 (8.82 oz.) pkg. raisins (optional)
3 c. pecans, chopped

Combine butter and sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs, buttermilk, flour, soda, and spices; mix well. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes. Yield: about 7 dozen.
