BRAISED STEAK | |
Round steak Salt and pepper to taste 2 tbsp. vegetable oil Flour to cover 3 - 4 peppers 1 lg. onion 1 pt. whole tomatoes Slice up round steak into strips, salt and pepper to taste. Roll strips in flour to cover. Tenderize with meat mallet. Put vegetable oil in skillet and brown meat strips on both sides until lightly brown. Remove meat from skillet and set aside. Put in skillet the peppers and onions to soften and brown slightly. Put steak, peppers, onions, and meat drippings from skillet into large roaster. Add a little water and cover with whole tomatoes. Bake in 250 degree oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Keep adding water as not to burn. |
