$300.00 WALDORF CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring (use lg. bottle and fill with water)
1 tsp. cocoa
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 c. buttermilk

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add coloring and cocoa. Then flour and salt, along with milk and vanilla, last add soda and vinegar. Bake at 300 degrees in layer pans or large loaf pan.

FROSTING FOR WALDORF CAKE:

2 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook flour and milk together and cool. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat 10 to 12 minutes until fluffy. Blend into cooled flour mixture.
